The Uganda Petroleum Institute came to Shaanxi Railway Institute to discuss World Bank East Africa Vocational Education Program

    On April 11, Vice-President Duan Xiaofei from Uganda Petroleum Institute and his entourage came to our institute to discuss the cooperation of the World Bank East Africa Vocational Education Project. Consultation was held in the conference room on the third floor in the high-tech campus. Deputy secretary of our Institute Party Committee and secretary of our Institute Discipline Inspection Commission Yang Yunfeng, and leaders of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office (Samara Transportation school ) attended the meeting.

     Before the meeting, Yang Yunfeng delivered a welcome speech and introduced the history and culture, enrollment and employment situation, integration of production and education, achievements of international exchanges, and cooperation in running schools of our Institute. He said that need to broaden channels of communication and conduct diversified railway training cooperation with higher education institutions in more countries.

     Duan Xiaofei appreciated the Institute's railway culture and the school-enterprise cooperation model. He said that the World Bank East Africa Vocational Education Project was launched in 2018, and 16 African vocational colleges including Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia and Tanzania have joined the project. The project is dedicated to improving the skills of African youth and enhancing the capacity of African countries to develop independently. He hopes to establish a cooperation plan with our Institute as soon as possible. In the future, an overseas branch school can be set up  to export domestic education and teaching standards. He also invited leaders of our Institute to participate in the World Bank East Africa Vocational Education Project Seminar which held in Beijing in September this year. At that time, our Institute can further deepen exchanges and cooperation with African institutions.

    After the meeting, Duan Xiaofei visited the four training workshops of our Institute: high-speed railway training area, high-speed railway tunnel training base, shield model simulation training room, architecture training base and other training venues. He highly appreciated the integration of production and education school-running model. (Li Qikang)
